SUPPORT MEMBERS GETTING JOBS IN THE COMMUNITY
Everyone deserves the right to work. The impact that a job has on someone’s life is profound!
In Arizona, 10.7% of the population are capable, working-age people with disabilities based on data from the 2015 American Community Survey (ACS). Yet, only 22% of those who can work, do. One of the hurdles in helping individuals with disabilities gain employment is the need for a job coaching – someone who will work one-on-one with individuals as they’re beginning to enter the workforce.
Job coaches help a member create a list of interests and potential skills, gathering employment information by doing job analyses at business sites in order to match a person with a position, providing one-to-one training on a job site, and providing job retention services and ongoing support to the employer and to the Gompers member.
Job coaching at Gompers is funded through donor and grant supporters just like you. Would you help an individual with a disability get a job and take steps toward independence?
